You can say that again. [ He scratches the back of his neck, leaning against the wall. Since they were chatting, there was no reason to occupy the middle of the hall. He opens his mouth, hesitates, and pushes on.]
Uh, hey... listen, if you want to talk about... whatever, I... I can listen. I'm not the best at it, but if it helps...
[He trails off, looking all the world like he just said something offensive.]
[He shrugs, opens his mouth to refuse--but Sieg's final line cuts him off. Face twisting into something akin to anger, but much closer to hurt, he shakes his head voraciously.]
You're not a statue! You're a living, breathing, person. You don't have to talk to me about anything, but don' talk about yourself like that!
I think it is. At least, it is for me—and I bet a ton of other people here would feel exactly the same!
Living, breathing people aren't a... wrench, or a sword, to just get used and discarded! That might not be how people think of you in your world, but that's how I think of you here.
[Here, he indicates himself with a thumb, prodding himself in the chest.] I told you before that I'm happy with who I am, now. I am. That's because I helped people to understand that I wasn't just some copy of someone else, but a different person, with my own life. I want people to understand and get to know who I am, regardless of my birth.
[He sighs, and gives Sieg a half shrug, taking a half step away.] I'm not saying you have to think like me, but... I hope you do think about it. It's dangerous to go around telling people you don't care if they treat you like garbage—and not just to you, either. It affects other people in the same situation as you.
Just promise me you'll think about it, okay? That's all.
[He knows very well he's not really a person. A homunculus, dragon, Servant, Master - none of those things really have the agency. Maybe a Master, but it's hard for him to say that much for himself.
It's been a year since somebody called him nothing more than a tool, but that's essentially what he is. A battery for other things.
Sieg, specifically, doesn't have the right to complain. The other homunculi... They're alright, he thinks. None of them went through the same series of oddities that Sieg did.
